A short animated sequence in a graphic novel art style. Anthropomorphic rat soldiers, wearing WWI German Stahlhelm helmets and tattered trench coats, emerge from muddy trenches onto a desolate, shell-cratered battlefield. Barbed wire and skeletal trees loom under a dark, overcast sky. The rats advance through intense explosions and gunfire, engaging in close-quarters bayonet combat in the trenches. A lone, battle-hardened rat soldier, with an eyepatch, charges heroically towards a sandbagged machine gun nest, dodging bullets, as the scene culminates in the nest exploding. The style features thick outlines, desaturated colors, hand-drawn textures, and high-contrast, gritty lighting. Vertical video format with dynamic camera movements, including tracking shots, close-ups, and rapid cuts.
